Dog Training for Seattle Pet Parents Who Want Calm, Real-Life Skills

You love your dog. They are family.

And when things start to feel hard, whether that is pulling on walks, feeling unsure or overwhelmed about how to train, or wanting to set your new puppy up with good habits from the start, it can be frustrating, confusing, and honestly exhausting.

These challenges are common, especially for dogs living in busy Seattle neighborhoods.

And the good news is you do not have to figure it out on your own.

With the right guidance and a training approach that builds both your dog’s skills and your confidence, things can feel calmer, clearer, and more connected again.

If you are looking for thoughtful, practical dog training in Seattle rooted in trust and real-life support, you are in the right place. Brea Cara is a certified Seattle dog trainer who works with you and your dog together, every step of the way.

Meet Brea Cara, CCS Certified Dog Trainer in Seattle & Mercer Island!

Hi there! I am Brea Cara, a certified dog trainer who graduated from the Northwest School of Canine Studies (NWSCS), the only state certified school on the West Coast that offers a Certificate of Canine Studies. I also had the privilege of studying under Julie Forbes, founder of Sensitive Dog, which deepened my understanding of behavioral work and client centered training.

Since 2009 I have been helping Seattle pet parents address behavioral challenges, build foundational skills, and feel more confident and connected with their dogs. Every dog I work with is different, and I genuinely love figuring out what makes each one tick.

Beyond training, I also offer small group dog walks that reinforce training skills between sessions, available to a limited number of clients in the Seattle area. Learn more about Brea’s small group dog walks here.

I would love to help you and your dog too.

Private Dog Training Built Around Your Dog and Your Life

Every dog is an individual. They are living, breathing, thinking creatures with their own unique experiences, quirks, and idiosyncrasies. What works for one dog may do nothing for another, and what works for one owner may feel completely wrong for someone else.

That is why one-size-fits-all training programs, group classes, tutorials, and generic articles so rarely solve the real problem. Whether you are dealing with leash reactivity, puppy biting, or simply wanting your dog to have better manners on walks, you need a trainer who takes the time to understand your specific situation and guides you toward a solution that actually fits your life.

That is exactly how Brea works. As a relational trainer Brea takes a collaborative, holistic approach to every client. She wants to hear what has been helpful, what has not, and what success looks like for you and your dog. From there she designs a training plan focused on addressing the real challenges and building the kind of harmonious relationship you both deserve.

That is really the ultimate goal.
Brea primarily works with clients through two training packages, each designed to meet you and your dog exactly where you are.

Cosmic Home & Pet: Dog Training Packages

While I customize every training session to suit the dog and pet parent I’m helping, I’ve developed two frameworks that work well for most clients: in-home, private puppy training sessions for young puppers and walk-and-train sessions for older puppies and adult dogs.

Both will help your pup learn to:

Focus

Listen and respond to commands

Become comfortable in our human-centered world

Respect and follow your lead

Bond with you

Start trusting you

However, there are some key differences between the two types of training sessions, which I’ll outline below.

Private In-Home Puppy Training, Level 1
Seattle & Mercer Island

Just welcomed a new puppy to the family? Congratulations! And if it already feels overwhelming, that is completely normal.

Potty training, teething, puppy biting, and early leash training all at once is a lot to navigate, especially in a busy Seattle neighborhood with plenty of distractions at every corner.

You do not have to figure it out alone.

Brea’s Private In-Home Puppy Training gives you and your pup a strong foundation from the very start. With the right guidance early on, you will build communication skills, establish healthy boundaries, and set your dog up for a lifetime of good habits. Just as importantly, you will feel confident and clear about how to keep the progress going long after the sessions end.

In each session Brea will work with you and your puppy to cover:

Sit, down, stay, leave it, wait, come, off and sit while greeting, drop it, and any additional commands relevant to your puppy’s specific needs.

Walk and Train Dog Training, Level 2
Seattle & Mercer Island

Does your dog know the commands at home but fall apart the moment you hit the sidewalk? Walk and Train sessions are designed for exactly that.

Training success really boils down to one thing: building your dog’s confidence in the real world. That is what the Walk and Train service is all about. Brea works with you and your dog out in the actual environments you navigate every day, helping you work through distractions and frustrations in the moment while developing a deeper understanding of your dog’s energy and cues on leash.

Walk and Train is for dogs who have worked through basic training but need help applying what they know outside the home. Maybe your dog gets distracted, overwhelmed, or reactive when out and about in the neighborhood.

Maybe leash pulling is still a struggle, or your dog loses focus around other dogs, people, or the general chaos of Seattle street life. Walk and Train sessions take those leash skills and social skills to the next level, so you and your dog can tackle real life together with confidence.

Brea will work with you and your dog to cover loose leash walking, leash reactivity, sit, stay, casual heel, waiting at curbs, proper greetings, waiting at the door, ignoring distractions, and any additional skills relevant to your dog’s specific needs.
